The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has begun setting up various play and sports facilities under the Narendra Nagar flyover as part of its beautification drive. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhary inspected the site on Friday and directed the concerned departments to complete the work at the earliest.
The new facilities will include areas for pickleball, badminton, pedal games, skating rings, box cricket, and other multi-sport activities, along with synthetic turf for children. Iron posts will be installed under the flyover to quickly prepare grounds for these activities.
Dr. Chaudhary also emphasized the need for timely completion and expressed concern over the slow progress of the work. Additionally, parking facilities for parents accompanying children are planned.
The inspection was attended by Corporator Vishakha Mohod, Chief Engineer Manoj Talewar, Executive Engineer Alpana Patne, Sports Officer Dr. Piyush Ambulkar, Dhanoli Zone Assistant Commissioner Pramod Wankhede, and Deputy Engineer Rajendra Jivatode.
The initiative aims to provide safe and modern recreational spaces for children while enhancing the area under the flyover.
