The administration of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has clarified that a viral video showing a tiger crossing a road between vehicles was not filmed inside the reserve’s safari zone but on the Padmapur–Moharli public road.
Officials stated that TATR comprises core and buffer zones, with the buffer area serving as a multi-use landscape where nearly 95 villages are interspersed with forest land. Public roads passing through this region provide essential connectivity, and both tourists and local residents frequently use these routes.
The Padmapur–Moharli road, a key access route from Chandrapur city, witnesses regular vehicular movement. With forest areas on both sides, sightings of wild animals crossing the road are not uncommon, officials said.
The video, which surfaced on social media on March 16, shows a tiger crossing the public road. Authorities confirmed that some individuals were seen getting down from their vehicles in the clip, following which a case has been registered against them under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.
To regulate traffic and ensure safety, the administration has intensified monitoring measures. Vehicles are being checked at the Padmapur check post, with details of tourists recorded. Additional surveillance is being carried out near Moharli, while patrolling teams and forest guards are conducting regular rounds to prevent vehicles from stopping inside forest stretches.
No-entry barriers have been installed at key forest entry points and fire lines, and both day and night patrols have been strengthened. Officials added that strict action will continue against any unauthorised activities in the area.
