Four successful hair transplants completed so far
In a significant boost to affordable healthcare, Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH or Mayo) has introduced a hair transplant facility, marking the first such initiative at a government hospital in Maharashtra. The move is expected to benefit patients who cannot afford the high costs typically associated with private clinics.
The facility has been launched by the Department of Dermatology under the guidance of Dean Ravi Chavan, with Dharmendra Mishra leading the initiative. Officials described it as a landmark step toward making advanced cosmetic and dermato-surgical treatments accessible to the common man.
Hair loss, increasingly common due to modern lifestyle factors, often affects mental well-being and self-confidence.
