A disturbing incident in Vasai West has sparked widespread outrage after CCTV footage emerged showing a man allegedly assaulting a four-year-old child.
The visuals, now circulating widely on social media, show the accused reportedly lifting the child and forcefully slamming him onto the ground.
According to information shared online, the minor has been identified as Vignesh. The incident is believed to have originated from a minor altercation between the accused, Sandeep Pawar, and the child’s father, which escalated into a violent act involving the young boy.
CCTV footage shows the man grabbing the child by his legs and hurling him onto the ground. During the impact, the child’s head is also seen striking a nearby rickshaw, intensifying the severity of the assault. The incident, which took place in broad daylight, has raised serious concerns about child safety in residential areas.
The accused is later seen carrying the child in the same manner into a nearby building complex. Following the incident, police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Sandeep Pawar, who has since been arrested.
The brutality of the attack on a defenceless child has triggered shock and anger across the Vasai-Virar region, with residents and social media users demanding strict action.
Locals have expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting the vulnerability of children and the dangers of disputes escalating into violence. The case has once again drawn attention to rising aggression over trivial issues and the urgent need for preventive measures.
