Effort to reduce attempts focuses on streamlining exam cycle; Inter CA exam rescheduled to May 5 after representations
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has rescheduled the Chartered Accountants Intermediate examinations scheduled for May and announced a key change in the frequency of CA Final exams from May 2026.
Under the revised system, CA Final exams will now be conducted twice a year—in May and November—replacing the current cycle of three attempts in January, May and September. The institute said the decision follows stakeholder feedback and aims to streamline the examination process while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Inter CA exam postponed
According to an official statement issued on April 6, the Intermediate exams, earlier set to begin on May 3, will now commence from May 5 due to unavoidable circumstances. The exam timings will remain unchanged from 2 pm to 5 pm at all centres in India and abroad.
Group I exams will be held on May 5, 7 and 9, while Group II exams are scheduled for May 11, 13 and 15. ICAI clarified that there is no change in the schedule for other exams, including Foundation, Final, and the Post Qualification Course (INTT-AT), which will be conducted as previously notified.
Sources indicated that the revision in Intermediate exam dates follows multiple representations seeking a change in the schedule.
