Monalisa Bhosle, popularly known as the ‘Kumbh girl’ who went viral during the Maha Kumbh Mela, has been declared a minor in a probe conducted by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST). Following this finding, police have booked her husband under the POCSO Act for marrying a minor.
Monalisa, who belongs to the Pardi tribal community, had reportedly married her boyfriend Farman Khan in Kerala last month. According to the NCST investigation, she is 16 years old.
Based on this, an FIR has been registered against Farman at the Maheshwar police station in Khargone district, where Monalisa hails from.
The commission’s inquiry involved verification of records from the Government Medical Hospital in Maheshwar, which indicated that Monalisa was born on December 30, 2009. This confirms she was a minor at the time of her marriage.
Following the findings, police have invoked multiple charges under the POCSO Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the SC/ST Act, considering her tribal background
