A SpiceJet aircraft collided with a stationary Akasa Air plane while taxiing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on Thursday (April 16), causing damage to both aircraft.The incident resulted in damage to the right winglet of the SpiceJet plane and the left horizontal stabiliser of the Akasa Air aircraft.A SpiceJet spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft has been grounded in Delhi following the collision.
The Akasa Air flight, QP 1406, scheduled to operate from Delhi to Hyderabad, was forced to return to the bay. According to the airline, preliminary findings suggest that the aircraft was stationary at the time of impact.All passengers and crew were safely disembarked, and the airline said arrangements are being made to transport passengers to Hyderabad at the earliest.
