Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has launched a comprehensive “Mission 100 Days” campaign to remove illegal hoardings and encroachments across the city, including footpaths and major roads. Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar has directed officials to prepare a structured and time-bound action plan for effective implementation.
The campaign will be executed in coordination with the District Collector Office, Police Department, Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), and the Public Works Department (PWD). A high-level review meeting chaired by the Municipal Commissioner was held at the NMC Headquarters on Saturday, with the presence of senior officials from all concerned departments.During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on systematic encroachment removal drives, rehabilitation of hawkers and street vendors through designated zones, and identification of key encroached locations.
The Commissioner instructed officials to conduct a comprehensive survey of roads under NMC, NHAI, and PWD jurisdiction, remove illegal constructions, clear construction materials blocking roads, and take strict action against unauthorized hoardings. Dr. Itankar emphasized the use of modern technology for planning and execution, along with ensuring police support for smooth enforcement operations.The initiative aims to ensure safe, clear, and accessible roads for citizens, while also providing legal and secure business opportunities for street vendors.
The Commissioner stated that the campaign will play a key role in long-term urban planning and in transforming Nagpur into a more organized, smart, and modern city.Earlier, Deputy Commissioners Mangesh Khawale and Milind Meshram made a detailed presentation on “Mission 100 Days,” highlighting that the primary objective is to clear footpaths for pedestrian safety and improve urban discipline through structured enforcement.The campaign will be implemented by the NMC Enforcement Department as a major step towards improving urban governance and quality of life in Nagpur.
