Bollywood stars Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh are stepping into a new role as brand ambassadors for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC). Their appointment comes as part of a campaign aimed at boosting public awareness around road safety.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held on April 22, where key figures including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were in attendance. Pratap Sarnaik, the state’s Transport Minister, emphasized the initiative’s goal of effectively communicating various public awareness campaigns related to road safety.
“This changes everything,” Riteish said. Reflecting on his childhood experiences with state buses alongside his father, former Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, he added, “I am committed to the progress of state transport. My priority will be to send a clear message about avoiding drink and drive.”
The couple’s involvement is expected to enhance outreach efforts regarding passenger safety and social messages tied to the Transport Department’s ongoing ‘Road Safety Campaign’.
On another note, Riteish is gearing up for his next film project titled ‘Raja Shivaji’, which explores the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The trailer recently launched promises an intense narrative, supported by a strong cast that includes Vidya Balan and Boman Irani. Fans can catch ‘Raja Shivaji’ when it hits cinemas on May 1 in multiple languages: Marathi, Hindi, and Telugu.
