Railways has decided to regulate Train No. 12106/12105 Gondia–Nagpur–Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (Mumbai) Vidarbha Express from May 3 onwards on the Gondia–Nagpur–Gondia section. During this period, the train will originate from and terminate at Ajni station until May 23. Local officials stated that they are yet to receive an official notification and hence could not confirm the exact reason behind the decision.
As a result, the train service between Gondia and Nagpur will remain cancelled for this 20-day period. However, a check on the IRCTC website indicates that the regulation begins from May 2, with the train terminating at Ajni, and from May 3 onwards, it will originate from Ajni station.
The decision is believed to be linked to ongoing infrastructure works. While apron work at Gondia station is nearing completion, Platform No. 2 at Nagpur station has been closed as part of a redevelopment project. Additionally, Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has planned special repairs at the double diamond crossing — a rare track arrangement in Indian Railways.
Officials from South East Central Railway (SECR) said the exact reason for the short termination is not yet confirmed. Given that Nagpur is a busy junction, some trains are being rescheduled to ease congestion and allow necessary maintenance blocks to be carried out.
