Bharatiya Janata Party has announced five names for the coming elections for nine seats to Maharashtra Legislative Council.
The party’s National General Secretary and In-charge of the party’s head office Arun Sinh announced the names of Sunil Vinayak Karjatkar, Madhavi Naik, Sanjay Nathuji Bhende, Vivek Vipindada Kolhe and Pramod Shantarao Jathar as BJP candidates for the elections.
The list of interested candidates was taken by the State Unit President Ravindra Chavan to Delhi to finalise the candidates. Following discussion with the higher authorities in Delhi the names of five candidates were announced on Tuesday evening.
April 30 is the last date for filing nominations. Polling will be held on May 12.
With the strengths of the parties in the Legislative Council BJP claims five seats while its alliance Shiv Sena two and NCP (Ajit Pawar) one. Maha Vikas Aghadi of UBT Sena, Congress and NCP (Sharad Pawar) is expected to announce its name on Wednesday. Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit Pawar) will also finalise their candidates on Tuesday night or Wednesday.
