Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag landed in controversy after he was allegedly seen vaping during the IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
The incident surfaced during RR’s successful chase of 223 runs, which helped the team register a six-wicket win and end PBKS’ six-match winning streak. Rajasthan chased down the target with four balls to spare, thanks to an unbeaten 72-run partnership between Donovan Ferreira (52*) and Shubham Dubey (31*). Earlier, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51, while youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed 43 off just 16 balls to give RR a flying start.
During the match, a video went viral on social media allegedly showing Parag using an electronic vape device inside the dressing room while seated alongside teammates Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel. The clip quickly spread across platforms, especially X, triggering strong reactions from fans and cricket followers.
The controversy comes shortly after RR manager Romi Bhinder was fined Rs 1 lakh for using a phone inside the dugout during a match, violating IPL regulations.
Parag’s alleged vaping incident has now sparked debate online, with many questioning discipline and conduct standards inside the dressing room. Others raised concerns over how an electronic vaping device was allowed in a professional sporting environment and demanded clarity from the BCCI and IPL authorities.
As per IPL regulations, smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes or vapes are prohibited inside dressing rooms and dugouts. The matter is expected to be reviewed by match officials and the IPL governing council, and Parag could face a warning, fine or further disciplinary action depending on the findings.
The issue has gained further attention as e-cigarettes and vapes are banned in India under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes Act, 2019, which prohibits their sale, purchase and use nationwide.
