The success story serves as a beacon of hope for couples facing infertility, demonstrating that timely intervention, specialized care, and advanced reproductive techniques can lead to successful outcomes—even in long-standing and challenging cases.
One such inspiring case involved a 33-year-old woman with an 11-year history of primary infertility. After undergoing multiple unsuccessful cycles of intrauterine insemination (IUI), she achieved conception in her very first IVF cycle at the Government recognised SMHRC IVF Centre, Wanadongri. The successful outcome made the moment profoundly meaningful for the family as well as the medical team.
The patient received comprehensive and closely monitored antenatal care throughout her pregnancy, ensuring a smooth and uneventful gestational period. The pregnancy culminated in the safe delivery of a 2.7 kg healthy baby boy via Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS), with utmost priority given to the safety and wellbeing of both mother and child.
The surgical procedure was expertly performed by Dr. Minakshi Pounikar (Tadghare) and Dr. Lata Meghrajani, under the able guidance of Dr. Rajasi Sengupta, Professor and Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Datta Meghe Medical College. Dr. Roshni Manwani, Anaesthetist, ensured safe anesthesia management, while Dr. Ishani Arora, Pediatrician, provided immediate neonatal support.
The patient’s journey was further strengthened by a dedicated multidisciplinary team. Dr. Ekta Kangale and Dr. Shantanu Shembalkar contributed significantly to treatment planning and ongoing monitoring. Junior residents Dr. Aneri Bhalani, Dr. Harvi Sanja, and Dr. Vibhuti Agarwal ensured round‑the‑clock patient care, vigilance, and support. Compassionate nursing care was provided by Sr. Priyanka Narayane and Sr. Anju Madame, whose dedication greatly contributed to the patient’s comfort and smooth recovery. Sr. Vishakha, ANS and Dr.Rucha Dhone, MCH Administrator provided needful coordination.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is an advanced assisted reproductive technique wherein fertilization takes place outside the body in controlled laboratory conditions, followed by the transfer of the embryo into the uterus. IVF has emerged as a highly effective solution for a wide range of infertility causes, including tubal disorders, hormonal imbalances, male factor infertility, and unexplained infertility. With continuous technological advancements, IVF today offers higher success rates and enhanced safety.
SMHRC IVF Centre, Wanadongri functional under insignia of “Nanhe Kadam” is an ideally designed centre which has been applauded by government authorities who came down for inspection.
This landmark achievement is not merely a medical success but a celebration of new beginnings and renewed hope for aspiring parents. It reaffirms SMHRC’s vision to deliver accessible, high‑quality, and technology‑driven healthcare, while continuing to expand its expertise in specialized domains such as reproductive medicine and maternal‑child health.
