An investigation by the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police has found that a handwritten “guess paper” or question bank was allegedly circulated in Sikar two days before the NEET (UG) examination held on May 3, 2026. The document reportedly contained 281 questions, of which 140 questions are said to have appeared in the actual exam.
Each correct answer in NEET carries 4 marks, meaning the matching of 140 questions accounts for roughly 560 marks out of the total 720-mark paper. Reports also suggest that not only the questions but even the order of options closely matched the original examination paper.
The SOG probe has reportedly traced the source to a Churu-based MBBS student studying at a medical college in Kerala. According to reports, the student shared the material with a friend in Sikar on May 1, after which it allegedly spread through coaching centres, PG operators, and career networks. The material is said to have been sold for anywhere between ₹20,000 and ₹2 lakh, and later circulated for around ₹30,000 just before the exam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reportedly acknowledged awareness of the Rajasthan SOG inquiry and stated that it received information about possible irregularities a few days after the examination. It has since shared relevant details with investigating authorities for further action.
The agency has also stated that it is taking the matter seriously and is cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing probe.
The controversy has once again revived concerns around exam security, drawing comparisons with the 2024 NEET row, which had sparked nationwide protests by students and opposition parties and was later heard in the Supreme Court.
