In order to control the increasing unauthorized and illegal construction in the city, the Municipal Corporation’s Construction and Projects Special Committee has decided to make it mandatory for the builder and architect to obtain an occupancy certificate from the Town Planning Department after the construction is completed as per the approved plan.
The meeting of the Special Committee on Construction and Projects was held under the chairmanship of Chairperson Mrs. Ashwini Jichkar in the Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Memorial Standing Committee Hall.
Committee Chairperson Mrs. Ashwini Jichkar pointed out that there are many examples of builders violating the provisions of the map after the approval of the map by the Town Planning Department. It is necessary for the builder or architect to build the building after the approval of the map by the Town Planning Department. However, since this often does not happen, unauthorized construction is built in the city. To control this, it has been directed to the Town Planning Department that it should now be made mandatory for the builder or the architect concerned to obtain an occupancy certificate . Mrs. Ashwini Jichkar also directed the administration to provide information about how many maps the Town Planning Department has approved and how many builders have obtained occupancy certificates .
If the information about the approved maps is provided to each zone office, the zone officer will also verify whether the construction has been completed or is in progress as per the map. Mrs. Ashwini Jichkar also directed that action should be taken to blacklist the concerned architect if it is found that the construction is not as per the approved map .
