Vidarbha remained trapped in an intense spell of summer heat on Friday, with multiple cities recording temperatures above the 45-degree Celsius mark and hot winds sweeping across the region. Amravati turned into the hottest pocket of Vidarbha at 45.6°C, while Wardha closely followed at 45.5°C. Akola recorded 45.4°C and Nagpur touched 45°C, indicating that the severe heat conditions continue to tighten their grip over central India.
Several other districts also witnessed dangerously high temperatures through the day. Chandrapur registered 43.8°C, followed by Yavatmal at 43.6°C and Brahmapuri at 43.3°C. Gadchiroli recorded 42.6°C, Washim 42.5°C and Bhandara 42°C, while Buldana stood at 41.5°C. Gondia remained comparatively lower at 40°C, though the heat remained intense enough to disrupt normal daytime activity.
The soaring temperatures have visibly altered daily routines across Vidarbha, with roads wearing a deserted look during afternoon hours and residents preferring to stay indoors. The continuous heat buildup over the past few days has increased discomfort levels, especially in urban pockets where concrete structures and traffic congestion are adding to the oppressive conditions. Weather patterns indicate that dry and harsh winds are continuing to dominate the region, making outdoor exposure increasingly difficult.
Doctors and health experts have urged people to take extra precautions as prolonged exposure to extreme heat can trigger dehydration, fatigue and heatstroke. Citizens are advised to drink water frequently even if not thirsty, include electrolyte-rich fluids and seasonal fruits in their diet, and avoid stepping out between noon and 4 pm unless necessary. Experts also recommend wearing loose cotton clothes, keeping indoor spaces ventilated, and paying special attention to children, elderly people and outdoor workers who remain most vulnerable during prolonged heatwave conditions.
