As part of the country’s first grassroots-level Khasdar Krida Mahotsav (KKM), a badminton tournament will be organised from June 1 to 6 at Subhedar Hall, Ravi Nagar, located on the campus of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University.
The tournament is being conducted under the “Khelo Nagpur Khelo” initiative of KKM, conceptualised by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to promote sports and fitness culture among citizens.With a prize pool of ₹4.58 lakh, the event is expected to become the highest prize-money badminton tournament in Nagpur’s history.
The competition is being coordinated by former MLC Sandeep Joshi.Special awards will be given in categories such as Best Player, Emerging Player, Youngest Participant and Talent Search. Every participant will also receive a T-shirt.
The tournament is open to players of all age groups and will include the following categories:
- Under-9 boys’ and girls’ singlesUnder-11 boys’ and girls’ singles
- Under-13 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles
- Under-15 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles
- Under-17 boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles
- Open men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles
- 35+ men’s and women’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles
- 45+ men’s singles and doubles55+ men’s singles and doubles
