With the IPL 2026 final between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium on May 31, Western Railway has announced four special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to cater to the anticipated surge in passenger traffic.
While the Railways has not officially linked the services to the IPL final, the move comes amid heightened travel demand generated by major matches at the Motera venue. The special trains are expected to provide a convenient travel option for cricket enthusiasts heading to Ahmedabad for the title clash.
According to Western Railway, two pairs of special trains will be operated on special fares. One pair will run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, while the second pair will connect Bandra Terminus, Vatva and Ahmedabad.
Train No. 09021 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special will depart Mumbai Central at 6.20 am on May 31 and arrive in Ahmedabad at 12.40 pm the same day. On the return journey, Train No. 09022 Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special will leave Ahmedabad at 3.10 pm and reach Mumbai Central at 9.45 pm. The train will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch and Vadodara in both directions and will comprise AC Executive Chair Car, AC Chair Car and Anubhuti coaches.
Additionally, Train No. 09043 Bandra Terminus–Vatva Superfast Special will depart Bandra Terminus at 11.45 pm on June 1 and reach Vatva at 8 am the following day. The return service, Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Superfast Special, will leave Ahmedabad at 3.50 am on June 1 and arrive at Bandra Terminus at 12.15 pm the same day.
These trains will stop at Borivali, Palghar, Vapi and Vadodara in both directions. In addition, Train No. 09043 Bandra Terminus–Vatva Superfast Special will halt at Udhna, Anand and Nadiad, while Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Superfast Special will also stop at Bharuch and Surat.
Passengers planning to travel from Mumbai for the IPL final can board Train No. 09021 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special on May 31 and return on Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Superfast Special on June 1 after the match. Western Railway said bookings for all four special services will open on May 30 through PRS counters and the IRCTC platform.
