Nandanvan Police have arrested a man for allegedly committing inappropriate acts with his 8-year-old stepdaughter in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the accused married her in 2016 after the death of her first husband in 2011. The woman has two daughters from her first marriage.
Police said the accused allegedly behaved inappropriately with one of the minor girls. The matter came to light after the mother approached Nandanvan Police Station and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and arrested the accused. He has since been remanded to judicial custody.
Further investigation is underway. As the victim is a minor, her identity has not been disclosed.
