Air travellers regularly commuting between Nagpur and Delhi are likely to face inconvenience from next month as Air India has decided to temporarily suspend its morning direct flight on the route due to operational reasons.
The suspension is expected to affect business travellers, government officials, and students who rely on the early morning service for same-day travel. The airline’s morning Nagpur–Delhi flight will remain cancelled from July until further notice. While Air India’s morning service will be withdrawn, IndiGo will continue operating its regular flights on the sector, providing some relief to passengers. Air India’s evening flight option will also remain available.
According to reports, Nagpur–Delhi currently has around 14 daily flight operations, including multiple services by IndiGo and Air India.
With the withdrawal of Air India’s morning flight, passengers will have fewer travel options, particularly during peak morning hours. The reduction is part of a broader network rationalisation exercise by airlines amid rising operational costs and changing passenger demand patterns. Reports also indicate that flight frequencies on several other routes from Nagpur to major cities have been reduced.
Industry sources suggest that increasing operating expenses and lower passenger loads on certain sectors are among the key reasons behind the temporary suspension.
