The Maharashtra Government has decided to establish student facilitation centres in every district to provide guidance on the Common Entrance Test (CET), Centralised Admission Process (CAP), scholarship schemes and various admission-related procedures.
A total of 40 CET Cell Student Facilitation Centres will be set up across the State’s 36 districts. Mumbai will have three centres, while Pune and Nagpur will get two centres each. According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, work on 26 centres has been completed and they became operational from June 10. Around six centres are in the final stages of completion, while the remaining eight will be opened shortly.
“These centres have been planned so that students, particularly those from rural and remote areas, do not have to travel to major cities for admission-related assistance and information. The centres will provide detailed guidance on admissions, scholarship schemes and other academic matters within their own districts,” Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil said.
The centres will serve as a coordination link between educational institutions, CET examination centres and the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell. They will provide technical support and information related to CET examinations and the Centralised Admission Process.
In addition, the centres will help students resolve queries and complaints, coordinate with concerned officials and departments, and assist in grievance redressal. They will also guide students in selecting suitable courses, degree programmes and institutions based on their interests, eligibility and aptitude. Academic counselling, internship opportunities and career-related guidance will also be made available through these centres.
The Common Entrance Test (CET) is a state-level examination conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering, technology, pharmacy and several other professional courses offered by colleges across Maharashtra.
