The Directorate of Education has issued guidelines for the commencement of the 2026-27 academic session in State Board-affiliated schools across Maharashtra. As per the directive, schools in most parts of the state will reopen on June 15, while schools in the Vidarbha region will resume classes on June 22. A circular to this effect has been issued by the department.
The decision has been taken to ensure uniformity in the academic calendar and summer vacation schedule across primary, secondary and higher secondary schools in the state.
Considering the intense summer conditions in Vidarbha, schools in the region have traditionally reopened a week later than those in other parts of Maharashtra. Continuing the practice, schools in Vidarbha will reopen on June 22 this year.
To protect students from extreme weather conditions, schools in Vidarbha will function between 7 am and 11.45 am until June 30. Regular school timings will be implemented from July 1, 2026.
