The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced three major changes for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, aimed at making the test more student-friendly while ensuring a fair and secure examination process.
According to the revised guidelines, candidates will now get an additional 15 minutes to complete the exam. The duration of the test has been extended from three hours to three hours and 15 minutes following feedback from students who felt the earlier time limit was inadequate. The NTA said the extra time would also help candidates complete attendance verification and other mandatory formalities without affecting their writing time.
The examination schedule has also been revised. The NEET-UG 2026 re-test will be conducted from 2 pm to 5.15 pm. In another significant change, the number of rough-work pages in the question booklet has been doubled from two to four. Two pages will be placed at the beginning of the booklet and two at the end, a move intended to address difficulties faced by left-handed candidates. Officials said the new arrangement will be implemented across all examination papers. Students have been advised to carefully follow the instructions on their admit cards and rely only on the official NTA website for authentic updates and information related to the examination.
