The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Nagpur Regional Office, in collaboration with NABARD, organized a Capacity Building Workshop for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) from across the Vidarbha region with the objective of strengthening their role in promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing farmers’ access to markets, technology and finance.
More than 140 representatives from FPOs across various districts of Vidarbha participated in the workshop. Addressing the participants, Shri Sachin Y. Shende, Regional Director, RBI, Nagpur, highlighted the important role of FPOs in improving farmers’ bargaining power and facilitating better market linkages. Ms. Rashmi Darad, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Maharashtra Regional Office, emphasized the significance of collective farming initiatives and the continued support being extended by NABARD for nurturing and strengthening FPOs in the region.

The workshop featured sessions by experts from RBI, NABARD and other partner institutions on agricultural and rural enterprise development, value chain integration, market opportunities, FPO-MSME partnerships and emerging agricultural practices. Participants also gained practical insights into digital marketing, exports and innovative farming models aimed at improving productivity and income generation.
A dedicated financial literacy session focused on prevention of digital frauds, social security schemes and awareness about the RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme. The programme concluded with interactive discussions and guidance sessions, providing participants with valuable knowledge to strengthen and sustain their organisations.
