Reinforcing its commitment to environmental sustainability and digital transformation, Nagpur Municipal Corporation – Orange City Water (NMC-OCW) has launched its WhatsApp E-Billing Service for consumers as part of its ongoing “Go Green” initiative aimed at reducing paper consumption and promoting eco-friendly practices.
With this new digital service, consumers will receive their water bills directly on their registered WhatsApp numbers immediately on the same date of bill generation. The message will include a secure payment link, enabling consumers to pay their bills instantly from the convenience of their mobile phones.
As part of the initiative, NMC-OCW will also send a consent link to consumers, allowing them to opt for paperless billing by discontinuing physical paper bills and choosing to receive all future water bills electronically via WhatsApp. The WhatsApp E-Billing Service has been introduced to make billing faster, simpler, and more convenient while significantly reducing paper usage and contributing to environmental conservation.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Nitesh Singh, CEO, OCW said: “We are thrilled to bring water bill management into the digital age through WhatsApp. This initiative reflects our commitment to making essential services more accessible and convenient for our consumers. By enabling instant bill delivery and secure online payments on a platform they use daily, we’re not only simplifying their lives but also taking a significant step toward environmental sustainability by reducing paper consumption. This is a perfect example of how technology can drive both customer convenience and environmental responsibility.”
NMC-OCW has appealed to all consumers to verify and update their registered mobile numbers to avail themselves of the WhatsApp E-Billing Service. Consumers are also encouraged to download the Nagpur Jal Grahak Seva App from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store for a seamless digital water service experience.
