Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday distributed appointment letters to 579 newly recruited employees of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), including 476 sanitation workers and 103 candidates recruited through the direct recruitment process, at a ceremony held at the NMC headquarters. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was the chief guest on the occasion.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated the NMC Transport Department’s WhatsApp Ticketing Service, enabling commuters to purchase city bus tickets digitally through QR codes.
Addressing the gathering, Fadnavis said the implementation of the Lad-Page Committee recommendations for sanitation workers across all government departments was a historic decision. He also stated that the state government has approved recruitment for 17,981 posts after resolving administrative hurdles.
Speaking at the event, Gadkari congratulated the newly appointed employees and praised the NMC’s waste-to-wealth initiatives, urging the civic body to strengthen its revenue sources while expanding citizen-centric amenities and maintaining transparent governance.
Mayor Neeta Thakre, Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, legislators, civic officials, corporators, and senior NMC officers were present at the programme.
