Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s wife, Amruta Fadnavis, on Saturday dismissed speculation about his possible move to the Centre, saying she wants him to remain in Maharashtra and will ensure that he does.
Speaking to reporters after offering prayers on the occasion of Ashadhi Ekadashi at the Lord Vitthal Temple in Pandharpur, she remarked, “I want to stay in Maharashtra, and I will ensure Devendraji also stays in Maharashtra.”
Her comments come amid speculation over Fadnavis’s political future after Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut recently claimed that the BJP leader could be shifted to the Centre during a possible Cabinet reshuffle, with another BJP minister replacing him as Maharashtra Chief Minister.Responding to questions on the recent paper leak issue, Amruta Fadnavis said students have every right to protest as long as the demonstrations remain focused on the issue.
She added that the government is taking corrective measures to prevent such incidents in the future and is implementing the changes students have been demanding.
