Police raided a late-night party at a rented house in the Gittikhadan area after receiving information about a gathering of young men and women. During the operation, liquor worth nearly ₹9,000 was seized, and a case was registered against eight youths under the Prohibition Act.
According to police, they received a tip-off about a party being held at a house near Gajanan Hall in Venuvan Society. The informer suspected it could be a rave party. Acting swiftly, a police team reached the location and heard loud music and commotion from inside the house.
In the presence of witnesses, officers knocked on the door, which was opened by Laxman Kewalramani, a resident of Ahuja Nagar. A search of the premises revealed around 20 young men and women attending the gathering.
Male and female police personnel conducted searches of those present. While no narcotic substances were found, several bottles of liquor were recovered from some attendees. Police seized foreign liquor valued at around ₹9,000 from eight youths.
During questioning, Laxman reportedly told police that he had organised the gathering and collected contributions from participants. He claimed that those wishing to consume alcohol had brought their own liquor.
Further investigation revealed that the house had been rented through the Airbnb platform, which allows users to book flats, bungalows and houses for short-term stays, including a single day.
Police have registered a case against the eight youths found in possession of liquor. Further investigation is underway.
