The executive committee of the century-old Vidarbha Sahitya Sangh (VSS) has approved the relocation of its office from the commercial complex at Jhansi Rani Square in Nagpur.
The decision was taken during the committee’s meeting held on Friday.The move follows ongoing concerns over the building’s structural condition and construction-related issues. The premises have also not received a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Fire Department, prompting the Sangh to relocate its operations.
As part of the transition, the Sangh has decided to shut its study room from July 1. Cultural programmes at the existing venue will continue only until the end of July, after which they will be discontinued. The reading room, which was frequently used by college students for study, has already been closed.The VSS office will be shifted to a new location, and the search for suitable premises is currently underway.
The executive committee was also informed that discussions are in progress with businesses operating within the commercial complex to facilitate the relocation process.
