The Nagpur unit of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) will hold a protest at Samvidhan Square on Monday from 12 pm to 4 pm in support of activist Sonam Wangchuk.
The protest follows Wangchuk’s transfer to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi after he began an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Delhi Police said the move was made on doctors’ advice and in compliance with the Delhi High Court’s directions.
However, CJP has described the hospitalisation as “forceful” and alleged that it violated Wangchuk’s right to continue his peaceful protest.The Nagpur demonstration is being organised in solidarity with a similar protest taking place in Delhi.
