Nagpur district has completed admissions for 88% of the seats reserved under the 25% Right to Education (RTE) quota for the 2026-27 academic year, with the fifth admission round now underway to fill the remaining vacancies.
According to the Primary Education Department of Zilla Parishad Nagpur under the government’s Samagra Shiksha programme, 6,249 students have secured admissions against 7,081 reserved seats across the district so far.
The RTE quota covers 642 schools in Nagpur district. This year, the admission process received 25,388 applications for the available 7,081 seats, translating to more than three applicants for every seat. Despite the strong demand, 832 seats are still vacant, official data showed.
Admissions for children selected in the fourth waitlist (Selection List No. 5) are being conducted from July 16 to July 24. Parents have been instructed to report to the allotted school with the original documents and attested copies submitted during registration, along with a printed copy of the allotment letter and the undertaking uploaded on the RTE portal.
Education officials have advised parents not to depend solely on SMS notifications. Instead, they should regularly check the ‘Application Status’ section on the RTE portal using their application number to verify the admission status.
The department also clarified that candidates are not required to download a separate admission letter, as the necessary details are available on the portal itself. SMS notifications for the next batch of waitlisted applicants will be sent only after the current admission round concludes.
