IndiGo has introduced a new ‘Lite’ fare for economy passengers travelling only with cabin baggage, offering a lower base fare for those who do not require check-in luggage.
The airline said the new fare will be available for booking exclusively through its direct channels, including the website, mobile app and contact centre, from Wednesday, for travel commencing July 15, 2026. The IndiGo Lite fare will be offered on all domestic and international non-stop routes and will be available for one-way, round-trip and multi-city bookings for both adults and children.
Under the new fare, passengers will receive an auto-assigned seat at no extra cost and can carry up to 7 kg of cabin baggage. Travellers can also customise their journey by purchasing optional add-ons such as check-in baggage, preferred seats, meals and priority services, including Fast Forward.
According to the airline, these add-on services can be booked through IndiGo’s website or at the airport up to one hour before departure.
Commenting on the launch, Aloke Singh, Chief Strategy Officer at IndiGo, said the new fare has been designed for customers who travel light and prefer to pay only for the services they use. He said the introduction of IndiGo Lite reflects the airline’s efforts to expand its range of fare options in line with changing customer preferences while making air travel more accessible and affordable.
The airline also clarified that passengers booking the Lite fare will continue to earn and redeem IndiGo BluChip loyalty points, ensuring that the benefits of its loyalty programme remain available across all fare categories.
