The Maharashtra Government has approved State guarantees for loans worth Rs 6,447.27 crore to be raised by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (HUDCO) for acquiring land for three access-controlled expressway projects in Vidarbha.
The approval follows the decision of the Cabinet Infrastructure Committee taken on April 22, 2026, and is subject to the conditions prescribed by the Finance Department.
Under the Government Resolution, the State guarantee will remain valid for 12 months from the date of its issuance, while the loan repayment period has been fixed at 15 years.
The guarantee is restricted to the sanctioned loan amount and does not cover penal interest or any additional liabilities arising from delayed repayment by MSRDC. HUDCO has also been directed not to sanction any additional loan for these projects without prior approval of the State Government. Similarly, MSRDC cannot obtain financing for the same purpose from any other financial institution without government approval.
The three proposed access-controlled expressways are expected to strengthen road connectivity across Nagpur, Gondia, Chandrapur, Bhandara and Gadchiroli districts. The sanctioned loans will be used exclusively for land acquisition.
