The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) in principle has accepted participation of private operators under its ‘Hinduhruday Balasaheb Thackeray ST Sange Teerthatan’ scheme’ the ambitious scheme to promote religious tourism. The programme has been planned to provide safe and cheaper religour tourism and also to generate additional revenue. The information by given by the Transport Minister who is also Chairman of MSRTC, Pratap Sarnaik. The proposal for private operators was approved by the state government.
Under the new transport policy facilities for lodging, boarding, parking, entry fees. Toll tax etc will be provided. All the facilities will be made available at one stop. The facilities for various sections of the society will also be provided. The cost of travelling would be lesser compared to private operators, Sarnaik stated.
The private operators will have to share 10 per cent of the revenue with the MSRTC.
The project offers Marathi youths for generating employment without any capital investments and through their management skills only.
The scheme will be implemented in six zones by involving six tourism agencies. The bids from the operators for implementation of the project will be invited soon. Based on the response further expansion will be planned.
