A purported screenshot of a Snapchat conversation allegedly involving Siya Goyal has gone viral on social media, days after she was remanded to 14-day judicial custody in the murder case of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal.
The viral screenshot purportedly shows Goyal asking a friend to send the front and back images of an Aadhaar card, allegedly for wedding ticket bookings. The message reads, “Adhar card front back bhejde. For wedding tickets jo hone nai wali parr fir bhi bhej de.” The friend is seen replying that the Aadhaar card had already been shared on WhatsApp.
The authenticity of the screenshot has not been independently verified, and investigating agencies have not confirmed whether the conversation is genuine.
The screenshot surfaced shortly after a Pune court remanded 20-year-old Goyal and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary (22), to judicial custody till July 16. The duo is accused of murdering 25-year-old realtor Ketan Agarwal by allegedly pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Agarwal and Goyal were reportedly scheduled to marry in November.
During the hearing, the police sought an extension of their custodial remand, stating that further interrogation was necessary after recovering chats containing coded language from the accused’s mobile phones. However, the court rejected the plea and remanded both accused to judicial custody.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Rajashree Virkud informed the court that investigators had conducted a panchnama at the location where Goyal allegedly disposed of Agarwal’s passport while travelling towards Mumbai. Another panchnama was also carried out at the spot where Goyal and Chaudhary allegedly rehearsed the murder.
The prosecution further stated that a second mobile phone belonging to Goyal had been recovered and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for examination. Investigators told the court that data extracted from the seized devices contained chats with coded language, nicknames and emojis, the meaning of which could only be explained by the accused.
Goyal’s counsel, Vipul Dushing, opposed the police’s request for extended custody, arguing that investigators had already seized the required electronic devices and that his client was cooperating with the probe. Counsel representing Chaudhary also contended that there was insufficient evidence to justify further custodial interrogation.
After hearing both sides, Judicial Magistrate First Class A.M. Vibhute remanded both accused to judicial custody until July 16.
Following the hearing, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandip Singh Gill said investigators had gathered key evidence, including statements from witnesses present at the crime scene, and recovered Goyal’s second mobile phone for forensic analysis. He added that details regarding the money allegedly transferred by Ketan Agarwal to Goyal would be revealed at an appropriate stage of the investigation.
“We have evidence to establish that a murder was committed,” Gill told reporters.
