The 2026 summer safari season at the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve concluded on a memorable note, with visitors enjoying a spectacular sighting of the reserve’s celebrated tigress ‘Bijli’ (T-114) on the final day of the season.

Tourists in the Navgaon core zone were treated to a close and prolonged view of Bijli as she confidently walked through the forest in her characteristic regal style. Her commanding presence, graceful movement and calm demeanour left wildlife enthusiasts and photographers captivated, making the season’s finale a truly unforgettable experience.

Bijli is regarded as one of Tadoba’s most popular and frequently sighted tigers. Known for her impressive physique and relaxed behaviour around safari routes, she has become a major attraction for wildlife photographers, researchers and tourists from India and abroad. Numerous iconic photographs of the tigress have also helped strengthen Tadoba’s reputation as one of India’s premier wildlife tourism destinations.

The final sighting of the summer season once again highlighted the reserve’s rich biodiversity and effective wildlife conservation efforts. Every summer, thousands of visitors flock to Tadoba to witness increased wildlife activity around waterholes, and this year’s safari season was marked by several exciting tiger sightings.

The striking images of Bijli were captured by noted wildlife photographer and Deccan Drifts founder Piyush Akare, whose photographs beautifully showcased the tigress’s majestic presence against the backdrop of Tadoba’s pristine forests.

Meanwhile, as per Forest Department regulations, the core zone of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve has been closed to tourists until September 30 due to the monsoon season. However, safari operations continue in the buffer zone, where visitors can still experience lush green forests and spot a variety of wildlife, including leopards, sloth bears, gaur, sambar, spotted deer and numerous bird species. The monsoon landscape offers a unique and tranquil wildlife experience for nature lovers.
