Passengers who forget to carry their reserved train ticket booked from a Railway Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counter can still continue their journey after verification, according to Indian Railways.
Railway officials said passengers with an original counter-issued reserved ticket should not panic if they accidentally leave it at home or at the station. Indian Railways has a provision that allows genuine passengers to travel after their details are verified. This facility is available only for tickets booked at railway reservation (PRS) counters.
It does not apply to IRCTC e-tickets, as those can be verified digitally using the passenger’s booking details and identity proof. If a passenger realizes during the journey that the PRS ticket has been left behind, they should immediately inform the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE).
At the same time, a family member or authorised representative should present the original ticket to the Station Master at the boarding station so that the verification process can begin.Railway officials advised passengers to always carry their tickets and travel documents.
However, this rule provides relief to genuine travellers who accidentally forget their counter-issued reserved ticket, ensuring that a simple mistake does not disrupt their journey.
