Nagraj, Prajakta reign supreme

Nagraj Khursane and Prajakta Godbole emerged winners in 10 k race organised during the second edition of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav at Yeshwant Stadium on Saturday.

Nagraj, a member of Nav Maharashtra Krida Mandal and an employee of Central Railway clocked 33.21 seconds to achieve the premier position. His colleague Sandesh Shebe finished second. Gold medal winner on Inter-University Cross Country had no competition.

 

She clocked 36.58 seconds. While talking to reporters she said, I participated in this event as a part of preparation for national cross country to be held in Mathura on January 20.

A five-kilometer Samruddhi Daud was also organised but it failed to evoke response.

Earlier, Mayor Nanda Jichkar flagged off the race. Sanjay Dudhe of Shikshan Manch, MAFSU vice-chancellor Dr Paturkar, Urmila Dabir, former mayor Pravin Datke and convener Sandeep Joshi distributed the prizes.

The winners in each category of boys and girls Nagraj Kursane and Prajkata Godbole respectively were awarded a prize money of Rs 31,000 each while the runners up were handed over cash prize of Rs 25000 each. The second runners up were given 21,000 and the fourth and fifth place winner were richer by Rs 15000 and 11000 respectively. The sixth to 10th place finishers were given Rs 5000 each in both the categories.
