Patil beat seed Basanth

Unseeded Sachin Patil defeated second seed VVS Basanth in the men’s open singles semi-final in the tennis tournament organised during Khasdar Krida Mahotsav at Ram Nagar court, here on Monday.

In the thrilling semi-final, Patil won the first set against VVS Basanth 7-5. In the second set, Basanth using his experience regained the form and restored the parity winning it 7.5. The decider was keenly contested. Ultimately Patil recorded thrilling victory by winning the third set 7-5 in tie-breaker. In the final Patil will lock horns with Advait Agrawal who defeated Tanmay Siriah 6-2. 6-3.

U-10 boys: S-1 Akshat Dakshindas beat S-4 Ahaan Shori 7-2; Devraj Mandade beat S-3 Vihaan Tarkunde 7-1

U-10 girls: S-3 Bhoomi Samant beat Anaya Mahire 6-4; S-2 Maahum Owais beat Shravya Rambhajani 6-1

U-14 boys: S-1 Achintya Verma beat Tarun Fule 7-1; S-3 Anmol Nagpure beat S-2 Kashit Nagrale 7-2

U-14 girls: S-2 Sara Gajbhiye beat Sejal Bhutada 7-1; S-3 Shrawani Dudulkar beat Milee Chug 7-2

Men’s open singles:  Advait Agrawal beat Tanmay Siriah 6-2, 6-3;  Sachin Patil beat S-2 VVS Basanth 7-5, 6-7, 7-5

Men’s doubles U/45: Ajay Neware and Sachin Patil beat Amol Humne and Sudhir Parteki 7-5;  Tanmay Siriah and PVVS Basanth beat Darshan Dakshindas and Advait Agrawal 7-3

Men’s doubles above 45:  Ajay Neware and Vijay Kamat (S-1) beat Shiv Mor and Narendra Suchak 6-1; Anuj Shah and Rahul Sharma beat S-2 DS Rao and SS Soam 6-2
