Public sector insurance companies should chalk out customer friendly policies through professionalism and serve the poor. They should also help in creating employment avenues, said Union Minister for Road and Surface Transport; Nitin Gadkari.
He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day Insurance Mahakumbh organised by the National Federation of Insurance Field Workers of India at Suresh Bhatt auditorium in the city on Saturday. Senior Regional Manager; LIC of India; Vinay Kusare and convenor of the programme Deepak Moghe were prominently present on the occasion.
Public sector insurance companies should come up with competitive packages on the lines of private insurance companies and run their business that will benefit the customers too, he advised. LIC on number of occasion has contributed in the national building process. The company has also co-operated in setting up basic facilities in his ministry, he said.
The economy in 21st century is dependent on three major factors of insurance, pension and share holding, which are the growth engine of the country’s development, Gadkari said, adding his ministry’s port trust pension fund is looked after LIC. Looking into increasing road accidents in the country, Insurance companies should create public awareness that will help to reduce the number of accidents and also benefit the insurance companies, he suggested.
On the occasion Gadkari was felicitated with citation and memento on behalf of the federation. Experts will guide on financial market, professionalism and human resource management during the two-day programme.
A large number of insurance employees from the city and Vidarbha region were present at the inaugural programme.
