SVAA alumni nite kickstarts SIES 125th foundation day celebrations

The celebrations to mark the 125th foundation day of Saraswati Vidyalaya, Nagpur (SVN) kicked off on Saturday, at the school grounds with an alumni nite. It was organized jointly by the school management, South Indian Education Society (SIES), and Saraswati Vidyalaya Alumni Association (SVAA).

Beginning with traditional Tamil greeting “vanakkam”, Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit, who was the chief guest, congratulated SVN, SIES and SVAA for bringing together so many people connected to the school for the celebration. “Maintaining a high standard of all-round education for 125 years is a huge achievement for the society. Alumni like Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis are example of the school’s achievements,” said Purohit, adding as an aside that even his son Rakesh was an alumni of the school. He exhorted the school to follow the ideals of APJ Abdul Kalam.

Justice SC Dharmadhikari of Bombay High Court in his speech recounted his days in school, and all the memories associated with it. He also recalled having attended the platinum jubilee celebration at that time, and expressed pride on the progress made by the school over the years.

Dr Suresh Chari, Shobha Dhanwatey, Alok Pande, Dr Neeta Bhave, Latha R, Uday Tulankar, Ravindra Kulkarni, Asawari Maste, Rupali Bakshi, SVN choir and band along with the IAF Band welcomed the guests. The welcome speech was delivered by SIES president T.K. Venkatesh,

SIES Vice-President, T.G. Janakiraman, Durairajan, Dr A. Natarajan Iyer, Dr R. Sundaram, S. Jayaraman, Principal Prabhuraman, and SVAA president Dr. Anup Marar were also seated on the dais.

SVAA and SIES have organized year-long events to commemorate the 125th Foundation day of SIES. SVAA has been organizing various programs since last one year to commemorate 125th Foundation day of our alma mater.

Green Saraswati, wherein the school will promote solar panels for electricity generation, was launched by the dignitaries on the dais.

SVAA office bearers Dr Anup Marar, Rajendra Kulkarni, Udayan Shrouti, Buty, Amit Sampat, Avinash Sahu, Ashish Khandelwal, Rahul Pande and Mitesh Rambhia under supervision of R.K. Jayabhaye, Post Master General, Vidarbha Region, presented ‘My stamp’ specially designed by India Posts to dignitaries.

Unique ‘shagun’ was presented to Banwarlilal Purohit by Jagtar Singh Sethi and Dr Anup Marar.Durairajan proposed vote of thanks for inauguration ceremony.

This was followed by SVAA Alumni Nite ‘Gata Rahe Mera Dil’, a musical feast by SVians for SVians. It was inaugurated by justice SC Dharmadhikari of Mumbai High Court. More than 2,000 SVians from across the globe participated in this historic event.

Shreekrishna Buty welcomed all alumni members. Justice S.C. Dharmadhikari was welcomed by Dr. Anup Marar- SVAA President, Rajendra Kulkarni – SVAA Vice President and Udayan Shrouti- SVAA Secretary, T.K. Venkatesh was welcomed by Shankar Bhavsar and Randhir Nashine.

While Durairajan was welcomed by Mayank Sharma and G. Sunil Sharma. Prabhuraman was honored by Abhiman Hegde and Sameer Badhe.

Subsequently, Dr Marar listed out SVians honor list namely Dr. Sanjay Paithankar, Jayshree Makur, Jaikumar Srinivasan, Nagaraj Sharma, Pranay Tidke, Jagtar Singh Sethi, Alok Pande and Mitesh Rambhia, who were honored by hands of chief guest. The anchors and choreographer namely Smt. Pushpa Anand, Dr. Parag Amin, Adv Tejaswini Lohit and Mrs. Sharmishta, were also honored by hands of chief guest.

SVAA President Commendation Medals announced by Dr. Anup Marar were presented by dignitaries on the dais to selected 30 SVians who had worked hard for the growth of SVAA.

Later on Prabhuraman and Justice S.C. Dharmadhikari also guided those present for the alumni nite.

The novel entertaining cultural program “Gata Rahe Mera Dil” was coordinated by Dr. Neeta Bhave, Alok Pande, Brijesh Segan, Jagtar Sethi and Parag Godbole. Pranay Tidke proposed vote of thanks and after National Anthem led by Venkat Manian, Shrikant Bhoge and Dr. Kshitij Sable, all SVians dispersed with fond memories of lifetime for dinner and camaraderie.

Rahul Pande, Mitesh Rambhia, Randhir Nashine, Yogesh Deshmukh, Avinash Sahu, Ashwini Jichkar, Sulbha Patil, Shobha Dhanwatey, Amit Sampat and Dr. Suresh Chari worked hard for the success of this event.
