More than 213 participants from all over the city and outside gathered for the International Artificial Intelligence Summit at G H Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur on Saturday which is organized for two days from February 23 to 24th, 2019 under Centre of Excellence (CoE) in AI and ML.
The programme was inaugurated with the traditional lamp lightening ceremony at the hands of Sunil Raisoni, Chairman, RGI, Chief Guest Dr. Renu Rajani, Vice President, Infosys, Satish Raghavendran, Director, Cognizant Technology Services Limited, Hyderabad and Dr. Rishi Mohan Bhatnagar, President-Aeris Communications, Guest of honor. Shreyas Raisoni, Executive Director, RGI, Dr Preeti Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Dr Santosh Jaju, Deputy Director, GHRCE, Prof Gopal Sakarkar, Prof Sofia Pillai were present during the inauguration ceremony.
The objective of the summit is networking with technology leaders, experts in AI, Showcase brands leadership, witness first-hand AI demonstration, Partnership through structured B2B meetings and experience hands on through workshops.
The R&D credentials of the institute were highlighted by Dr Santosh Jaju, Dean R&D and Deputy Director, GHRCE. Dr. Preeti Bajaj, Director, GHRCE, Nagpur in her preamble address shared that this AI Summit will create eco system in the nearby community for exploiting the potential of start-ups and innovations in this area and connecting them with the real-life problems of industry.
Day one highlights included keynotes by Kishor Kar, Director-Customer Success, Aeris Communication on ‘AI Changed the way of Human Communication’  as well as on the topic ‘Network Anomaly detection using AI by Dr Satish Raghavendran, Director, Analytics with Cognizant Technology Services Ltd, Hyderabad.
The topics ranged from ‘Explainable Artificial Intelligence – Concepts, Tools and Strategies by Dipanjan Sarkar to ‘Impact of AI in Automobile Industries’ by Rohit Pandharkar, Mahindra Group, Mumbai with a clear focus on the big-picture implications of AI and machine learning technologies for the global economy and businesses as a whole followed by Webinar sessions by Animesh Jaipurtkar, Netherlands, Dr Jorge Camargo, Colombia an Deepti Panicker, CEO, Founder, Spark Health Vision. First Panel discussion was held on the topic “Impact of AI in Digital Health Care Systems where Dipanjan Sarkar, Rohit Pandharkar, Dr Satish Raghavendran, Dr Amol Dr Shinde, Dr Ujwal Ramesh Jalgaonkar, Ketan Paithankar, Dr Abhinav Yashwant Deshpande, Unnikrishnan shared their experiences during the panel discussion which aims to highlight how AI has made impact on health systems and could offer affordable medical services.
The second panel discussion covered the topic ‘Data mining and Deep Learning and its applications where Vedprakash Balriya, Harish Zambani, Ketan Paithankar, Dr Mukta Paliwal, Dr Renu Rajani shared their views on how AI could impact data mining and gave real life examples.
The event showcased the startup entrepreneurs wherein more than 10 budding entrepreneurs have displayed their startups which seeked attention of the participants during their visit to their outlet at the campus. Two workshops on ‘Data Science and Advance Analytics Trends’ and ‘Supervised and Unsupervised Learning’ by Biswajit Nayak and Vallabha Deevi, Tiger Analysis, Chennai which gave real hands-on experience with AI.
The first day of the summit concluded with a good response and left a good impact among the participants which benefitted them. The summit was coordinated by Prof Sofia Pillai and Dr Gopal Sakarkar, In-charge of Centre of Excellence in AI and ML. Dr Gopal Sakarkar, proposed a vote of thanks, Sana Khan compeered the programme.
The second day of the summit shall have two-keynotes, panel discussions and workshops on the topics such as speech recognition using python, Indian Agriculture and AI Industry, Impact of AI on Human Life, Industry safety monitoring using video analysis and many more.
