Exodus of Kashmiri Pandits of 1990 hurts the most: Sushil Pandit

In the name of Azadi, attempts can be clearly seen to impose a set of values on the people. However, it is time that the people of India must understand it and stand up for a place which is a part of the country, expressed Sushil Pandit during an interactive session organised by Manthan at Kavi Kulguru Kalidas Auditorium, Persistent Systems Ltd on Sunday.

The jam packed auditorium depicted the curiosity of the people of Nagpur to know more about the topic.

Sushil Pandit expressed that people do not know that Kashmir is the fountainhead of knowledge. He also highlighted the work of Aadishankar, Panini, Abhinavgupta and Lalitaditya which many people are not aware of. Pandit also highlighted the importance of books Natyashastra and Sangeetratnakar.

Speaking upon the current context of Jammu and Kashmir he not only explained the issues which are at stake but also took the audience through the history and rich culture of the state.

Pandit also spoke about the time when India had to let go the 40 per cent of the region to Pakistan just to ask for it from the United Nations and not to fight for it, Pandit expressed his stand on the mistake made by the former Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru.

Pandit with a hint of sadness also expressed that the exodus which occurred in Kashmir valley in 1990 hurt the most because the country had all the means to protect the rights of the Kashmiri Hindus in an independent India.

While speaking he also claimed that our political system for reasons not known has bent backwards to accommodate separatist mindset and it is leading to the growing violence in the state.

Pandit also highlighted the issue where, the people who were called from Punjab to work as cleaners were granted the citizenship on the basis of their job. But, today when their children go out to seek a job being, Architects, Engineers and Doctors they are asked to work as cleaners, failing which they will be scrapped of their citizenship.

Sushil Pandit also expressed that unless Article 370 ans 35-A are scrapped peace cannot prevail in Jammu and Kashmir.

The programme was compered by Ankita Deshkar while Sagar Mitkary presented vote of thanks.

Sushil Pandit was welcomed by CA Satish Sarda.
