Himani wins chess title

Budding Himani Jethwani  emerged champion in the Nagpur District Women’s Chess Championship 2019 organised by Nagpur District Chess Association (NDCA) in association with Dhanwate National College  at DNC indoor hall, Congress Nagar.

Himani earned five points to win the title. She was followed by Tejaswi Bhosale for second place with four points whereas Vidhi Mishrikotkar and Gayatri Panbude finished third and fourth respectively.

In the last round, Himani defeated Krishna Taori on top board. Tejaswi Bhosale recorded the victory over Gayatri Panbude on second board. On third board, Vidhi Mishrikotkar lost to Pranavi Bhag.

Top four players will represent Nagpur in the state tournament. The prizes were distributed at the hands of  NDCA treasurer  SN Parkhi and tournament director Umesh Panbude.

Results (round 5): Krishna Taori (2) lost to Jethwani Himani (5), Gayatri U Panbude (3) lost to  Bhosale Tejaswi (4), Mishrikotkar Vidhi (3) lost to Pranavi Prashant Bhag (2); Chinchone Ashlesha (1) lost to Bhosale Yashaswi (2).

Final rankings: Jethwani Himani (5,13), 2.  Bhosale Tejaswi (4), 3. Mishrikotkar Vidhi (3), 4. Gayatri  Panbude (3), 5. Krishna Taori (2), 6. Bhosale Yashaswi (2), 7. Pranavi Prashant Bhagat (2), 8. Kulkarni Prajakta (2).
