The Nagpur Traffic police have launched a new initiative to curb the drink in driving cases specially amongst the youth of the city.
According to the new initiative the traffic cops will now inform the office and the family of the person caught driving under the influence of alcohol.
The initiative aims to inform the offices that their employee was involved in a serious traffic violation.
So far the traffic police took action against 187 people for driving after consumption of alcohol within two days.
Around 18 special squads comprising 12 officers, 80 constables are involved in the drive. The squad will conduct surprise check in the city, especially on weekends as people , mostly youngsters , consume alcohol in parties and drive home, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Gajanan Rajmane.
