Nagpur girls retain basketball title

Nagpur girls retained the title in Inter-District Basketball Tournament organised under the guidance of Basketball Federation of India (BFI) at Satara on Monday.

In the final, Nagpur girls got the better of Pune 59-35 in a one-sided affair. Thanks to Shomira Bidaye who single handedly scored 26 points. Earlier in the semis, Nagpur downed Mumbai north 65-48.

However Nagpur boys finished fourth as they lost to Pune 37-64 in a hardline final.

Girls semi-final: Nagpur (Dhara Phate 19, Siya Deodhar 17, Shomira Bidaye 15, Sameeksha Chandak 9, Swati Wankhede 4) bt Mumbai North (Asmat Kaur 15) 65-48 (13-7, 19-12, 15-12, 18-17)

Final: Nagpur (Shomira Bidaye 26, Dhara Phate 10, Siya Deodhar 10, Krupaee Sharma 5, Saee Deshmukh 4, Sanjana Khandelwal 4) bt Pune (Sanskruti P 9, Sanika D 6) 59-35 (16-11, 17-7, 17-11, 9-6)

Boys semi-final : Mumbai South East (Usman Khan 17) bt Nagpur (Tanuk Gurnule 10, Sarang Umathe 9, Aditya Panga 8, Adwait Jagtap 5, Krishnal Agrawal 4) 54-40 (20-8, 19-10, 7-7, 8-15)

Third place: Pune (Rajendra S 22) bt Nagpur (Krishnal Agrawal 12, Tanuk Gurnule 10, Advait Jagtap 5, Taaran Kakkad 3) 64-37 (12-18, 18-6, 13-7, 21-6).
