In a significant action against blooming illegal gambling in the city, Jaripatka police on Thursday unearthed a first of its kind gambling den operated by women at Totiya Square.
Jaripatka police arrested four women belonged to creamy layer, in this connection and seized cash of Rs 30,000 during the raid. However, two women managed to flee the spot by jumping from the window.
The accused have been identified as Renu Sadwani, Vina Rihani, Seema Sidwani and Jyoti Harjani.
According to police sources, cops received a tip-off that for the past several days, a number of women from high class society were regularly assembling in a building at Totiya Square for gambling.
Subsequently, cops laid a trap and raided the spot where they found six women engaged in gambling activities. Though cops managed to arrest four women, two managed to flee from the window.
Cops have booked all the accused under the relevant sections of IPC and started the probe.
