On the basis of first innings lead Railways defeated Reshimbagh Gymkhana and emerge champions in Inter-Academy Under-19 Cricket Tournament at Ambedkar College ground, here on Friday.

In response to Reghimbagh Gymkhana’s first innings total of 201, Railways scored 216 and took 15 runs first inning lead. Resuming at 51 for 4, overnight batsmen Vaibhav Pandey and Kale gave confident start to Railways. They made 108 run partnerships for the fifth wicket. Pandey who didn’t hit any boundary or six in his 92 run innings scored the runs with good strike rate. Kale too frustrated the rival bowlers. His 78 run knock included eight boundaries and one six. Both became the victim of Drugwar. But before that they did their job perfectly and helped Central Railway to surpass Reshimbagh Gymkhana’s first innings total.

For Reshimbagh Gymkhana, Drugwar claimed two wickets for 43 runs while Praful Hinge, Aniket Rokde and Mohnish Kurve were chipped in with one wicket each.

In their second innings Reshimbagh Gymkhana made 139 for 8 in 20 overs. Opener Himanshu Bhamburkar top scored with 42 hitting five boundaries and one six. Om Dethkar (31) was another main scorer. For Railways, Tanmay Kaley claimed four wickets conceding 63 runs. Arjun Yadav got two for 18.
