Kshitij, Krishna win chess titles

Kshitij Mudliyar and Krishna Taori won the titles in the open and girls categories in C. G. Gajbhiye Memorial Nagpur District Under-15 Open & Girls Selection Chess Championship 2019 at NDCA Hall, DNC Sports complex, Congress Nagar on Sunday.

In the boys section, Mudliyar and Mayank Ranade and Parth Lonkar earned 6.5 points each but on the basis of tie-breaker, Mudliyar was declared winner while Ranade finished runners-up. Parth Lonkar achieved third place. Vivaan Saraori secured fourth place with six points.

In the girls section, Krishna Taori scored 5.5 points to win the title she was followed by Aaashi Dalal with five points for second place and Rashi Wairagade (4.5) for third. Fourth place went to Riddhi Palorkar. Top four boys and four girls from each group selected for State Under 15 to be held at Solapur from June 2 to 5.

The prizes were distributed at the hands of NDCA treasurer S N Parkhi, International arbiter Swapnil Bansod, NDCA organising Secretary Umesh Panbude, chief arbiter Pravin Pantawane and assistant arbiter Shrikant Bagde were also present on the occasion.

Final standing open:1. Mudliyar Kshitij (6.5, 39.5), 2.Ranade Mayank (6.5, 37.5), 3. Lonkar Parth (6.5, 36.5), 4. Vivaan Vijay Saraogi (6, 40), 5. Sawalakhe Jay (6, 36), 6. Bodkhe Aditya (6, 34.5), 7.Dande Vyankatesh (6, 33.5), 8. Kulkarni Nilay (5.5, 38), 9. Shinde Rujul (5.5, 38), 10. Marsattiwar Yash (5.5, 36.5).

Final standing girls: 1. Krishna Taori (5.5, 21.25), 2. Dalal Aashi (5, 15), 3. Wairagade Rashi (4.5, 12.50), 4. Palorkar Riddhi (4, 13), 5. Aastha Turankar (4, 12), 6. Shravani Sirpurwar (4, 9), 7. Chhabda Aishita (3.5, 12.75), 8. Chandankhede Yashika (3.5, 8.75).
