Nagpur at 45.6 degree Celsius sizzles, no respite insight

Blistering heat wave sweeping the region has once again put Vidarbha in Orange Zone. Mercury soared to over 46  degree Celsius in Chandrapur, Bramhapuri and Wardha districts. In Nagpur too, mercury soared by 1.4 notches to reach 45.6 degree Celsius, which was 2.5 degree above the normal temperature.
Weathermen had hinted towards a rise in temperatures over the next few days The met officials have also warned of heavy heat wave like condition in the next 24 hours in the region.”Heat wave conditions will prevail at most places over Vidarbha,” the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
Meanwhile, May heat has made life miserable for people in Nagpur. Scorching sun is taking a toll on people’s body right from 8 am. Even the morning walkers, who hit the roads around 5 am, are feeling the hot breeze instead of soothing winds.
Nearly all the prominent roads in the city remained empty between 12 noon and 3 pm as people preferred to stay indoors.
The minimum temperature too was above normal. On Tuesday it was 29.5 degree Celsius, which was 1.2 notches above the normal.
In the evening, clouds covered the sky and light drizzles were reported in some parts of the city. But, this failed to provide any relief to people from the heat.
Meanwhile, Chandrapur at 46.6 degree Celsius was the hottest place in the region followed by Bramhapuri 46.5 degree Celsius and Wardha 46.4 degree Celsius. Akola recorded 45.2 degree Celsius while Amravati too reeled under extreme heat with mercury soaring to 45 degree Celsius, up by 2 notches in the last 24 hours. Gondia (44.4), Gadchiroli (44.2) and Yavatmal (44.5) recorded over 44 degree Celsius.
